The ARIL Society is pleased to announce that the 23rd Annual Review of Insolvency Law Conference will take place on Friday, February 6th, 2026 in Toronto, Ontario at the Westin Harbour Castle.

Conference Fee

General Registrant: $1025 + tax
Judges, Academic, Articling Students, CQP Candidates: $250 + tax*

ARIL Society Inc. does not allow for refunds; however, substitutions will be allowed up to 3 days prior to the Opening Reception by Monday, February 2nd, in writing to Natalie.alfano@cairp.ca It is the responsibility of the attendee to change or cancel any hotel and travel arrangements. For those writing to request a substitution, please copy your designated substitute on the request. ARIL Society Inc. cannot guarantee dietary or accessibility accommodations for substitutions.

Accommodation

The deadline to receive the discounted rate has passed and room rates are at the discretion of  the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel.

 As in previous years, there will be an opportunity to pick up your name badge and join us for our Opening Reception on the evening of Thursday, February 5th.

Hotel Cancellation Policy
Guests will be able to cancel 72 hours prior to arrival to avoid a one night penalty with the hotel.

Conference Papers

The Annual Review of Insolvency Law is now available on CanLII.

If you are interested in purchasing a printed book and/or e-book edition of the Annual Review of Insolvency Law through Thomson Reuters, there is a limited-time 25% discount if ordered by the end of February. The printed and/or e-book cost is not included in the Conference registration fee and must be ordered and purchased separately through Thomson Reuters. Please contact Josephine Song at Josephine.song@cairp.ca for more information on how to order. All commercial transactions will be between the attendees and Thomson Reuters. Please expect shipping delays on orders.

CPD/CLE

CAIRP members who attend the conference will receive a total of 5 hours and 35 minutes of MPD – type 1 for fiscal year ending March 31, 2026.

Alberta: Lawyers submit their own hours. For Alberta lawyers, consider including this course as a CPD learning activity in your mandatory annual Continuing Professional Development Plan as required by the Law Society of Alberta.

British Columbia: Lawyers submit their own hours. For British Columbia lawyers, consider including this course as a CPD learning activity in your mandatory annual Continuing Professional Development Plan as required by the Law Society of British Columbia.

New Brunswick: Lawyers submit their own hours. For New Brunswick lawyers, consider including this course as a CPD learning activity in your mandatory annual Continuing Professional Development Plan as required by the Law Society of New Brunswick.

Quebec: NEW Lawyers submit their own hours. For Quebec lawyers, consider including this course as a CPD learning activity in your mandatory annual Continuing Professional Development Plan as required by the Barreau du Québec.

Ontario: The Law Society of Ontario has approved 2 hours and 55 minutes of Professionalism content and 0 hours of EDI Professional content. The remaining hours of the Conference (2 hours and 40 minutes) is eligible for Substantive CPD credit. Please see the breakdown below:

o Session Title: Panel A: Good Faith Under Scrutiny: Navigating Bad Behaviour in Insolvency contains 45 minutes of Professionalism content.
o Session Title: Panel C: Enough is Enough: Navigating Bad Faith Stakeholders in Consumer Insolvencies contains 45 minutes of Professionalism content.
o Session Title: Panel D: Catch Me If You Can (Afford It): Funding the Investigation and Pursuit of Ponzi Schemes and Other Litigation Claims in Insolvency Proceedings contains 45 minutes of Professionalism content.

*Articling Students must be articling at a law firm at the time of event registration in order to be eligible for the articling registration fee. CQP students must be enrolled in the CIRP Qualification Program at the time of event registration. PCIC/IA students must register as a General Registrant. Academics must be currently employed in a teaching/academic role at a university or college in order to be eligible for the academic registration fee.
