About The Honourable Glenn A. Hainey

Justice Glenn A. Hainey was appointed in December 2010. He was appointed as Team Leader of the Commercial List in 2017.

Justice Hainey received a Bachelor of Arts & Science (B.A.Sc.) and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the University of Western Ontario. He was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1976.

Justice Hainey practised criminal law in association with Arthur Maloney, Q.C., from 1979 to 1981 before joining Smith Lyons Torrance Stevenson & Mayer (1981 to 2001). Following the firm’s merger with Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP in 2001, Justice Hainey continued his commercial litigation practice at Gowling until his appointment to the Superior Court of Justice.

Justice Hainey was a Bencher of the Law Society of Upper Canada and a member of several subcommittees, including Access to Justice, Professional Regulation, Paralegal Standing, Audit and Proceedings Authorization Committee. He is a past Director of The Advocates’ Society of Ontario and past Chair of the Enforcement Practices and Procedures Committee of the Canadian Bar Association’s National Competition Law Section.

 About The Honourable Thomas J. McEwen

Justice Thomas J. McEwen was appointed in June 2009.

He was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1986.

Prior to his appointment, Justice McEwen practiced in the area of civil litigation. His practice focused on major tort litigation including insurance related issues, professional liability, products liability and class actions.

Since his appointment, Justice McEwen was the former Lead of the Civil Team. He sits on the Estate/Commercial List and has been the Lead of the Estate Team for the past 6 years.

 About The Honourable Barbara A. Conway

Justice Barbara A. Conway was appointed in October 2006.

Justice Conway received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the University of Toronto. She was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1982.

Prior to her appointment, Justice Conway was a lawyer with Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP (now Dentons) in the areas of corporate and commercial law, with an emphasis on franchising, licensing and product distribution matters.
