Doug Hoyes is a Licensed Insolvency Trustee, certified Insolvency Counsellor and Chartered Professional Accountant and co-founder of Hoyes, Michalos & Associates Inc. He was inspired to bring his financial experience to work by helping individual people not corporations rebuild their financial future. Doug advocates for consumers needing debt relief to ensure they receive a fair and respectful debt management solution. He regularly comments in the media including publications and networks such as: Canada AM, Global News, CBC, The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star, BNN Bloomberg, The Financial Post and CTV News. Doug is a passionate advocate for ensuring that people find the right solutions to their debt problems and shares his knowledge and expertise as a regular contributor to our blog and in the media.
Doug posts regularly posts on Twitter and is the host of the podcast series, Debt Free in 30 Podcast.
As an industry expert, Doug Hoyes appeared before the Senate Banking, Trade and Commerce Committee to give testimony on the impact of bankruptcy legislation to the individual, and serves as an OSB (Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy) Oral Board Examiner. Doug is the author of the personal finance book, Straight Talk on Your Money – The Biggest Financial Myths and Mistakes…and How to Avoid Them available online and in major bookstores across Canada.
Jennifer McCracken, Licensed Insolvency Trustee, BDO Canada Limited
Jennifer McCracken is a Licensed Insolvency Trustee and works in BDO’s Lower Mainland offices including the Abbotsford, Langley, Surrey, White Rock, Burnaby and Vancouver areas. She has over 15 years’ experience advising individuals and businesses in formal and informal insolvency processes. Jennifer is committed to finding creative and practical solutions to resolve individuals’ financial difficulties. She has experience with complex engagements involving income tax debtors, sole proprietorships and marital separation, and assists debtors and creditors in reaching mutually beneficial solutions. Jennifer brings a broad range of financial-recovery experience for businesses of all sizes including private and court appointed receiverships, bankruptcies and proposals to creditors. Jennifer served as a director and Past President of the British Columbia Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals and actively volunteers on the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professional’s (CAIRP) national committees.
She is a regular presenter of bankruptcy and insolvency related topics and also volunteers with Junior Achievement of British Columbia and the Fraser Valley’s Association of Women in Finance. In 2015, she was the recipient of CAIRP’s Outstanding Volunteer Award. Community engagement is a passion for Jennifer who actively volunteers with her children’s activities and sports. In her spare time, Jennifer can be found working in her garden.

Jordan Rumanek is a Licensed Insolvency Trustee and the vice president of Rumanek & Company Ltd. Jordan Rumanek is a Licensed Insolvency Trustee and Vice President of Rumanek & Company Ltd. As Vice President of Rumanek & Company Ltd, Jordan has 20 years of financial and restructuring advisory experience in the consumer insolvency field. His focus is direct involvement in the personal debt process from initial meetings with debtors to administration of estates and discharges. He has extensive experience in the legal side of consumer debt issues and provides each debtor with a clear understanding of the process, options and possible outcomes. Jordan attends the Toronto Bankruptcy Court regularly for bankrupts’ discharge hearings, court approvals of proposals and motions. Jordan has spoken about consumer bankruptcy and insolvency matters at Ontario Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professions (“OAIRP”) and Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Practitioners (“CAIRP”) conferences over the past years.
Jordan’s hobbies include hockey, skiing, travel, swimming and canoe tripping. Jordan is also an avid Toronto Maple leafs fan.
